What do you need to know about Euro 2024?
Place and dates of Euro 2024
Euro 2024 will take place from June 14 to July 14 in Germany. This is the second time the event will take place here, the Germans having previously hosted in 1988.
The host cities chosen by the German Football Federation are Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Gelsenkirchen, Leipzig, Stuttgart, and Munich.
Participants
This year, Georgia and Serbia are making their European Championship debut! Other participating countries are Albania, Scotland, Hungary, Romania, Germany, Slovakia, England, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland, Croatia, France, Poland, Turkey, Denmark, Portugal, and Ukraine.
These 24 teams are divided into six groups of four teams each:
- Group A: Germany, Scotland, Hungary, Switzerland
- Group B: Spain, Croatia, Italy, Albania
- Group C: Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, England
- Group D: Netherlands, Austria, France, Poland
- Group E: Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine
- Group F: Turkey, Portugal, Czech Republic, Georgia
The EURO 2024 mascot
Of course, there has to be a mascot! The official mascot of UEFA EURO 2024 is a teddy bear in a jersey.
His name was selected by public vote. The options were “Albärt,” “Bärnardo,” “Bärnheart,” and “Herzi von Bär.” The most popular name, announced on July 5, was “Albärt.”

Lastly, the official song of UEFA EURO 2024, “Fire,” is the work of Meduza, OneRepublic, and Leony. It fuses the house sounds of the Italian group Meduza, the soundscapes of the American band OneRepublic, and the pop experience of German artist Leony. You can listen to it in the video below:
